  • Garage queens??

i have been looking at the pictures of everyone’s bikes. Then I went out and looked at mine. Do Y’all actually ride those shiny chrome show pieces?? I use mine to haul my wife all over creation so she can “look”. It’s cheaper than her watching HG TV so I do not mind. But it takes a toll on everything riding through the rocks and sand and rain and mud!

hopefully y’all get out and parade those beautiful bikes. Happy Cinco De Mayo!!

I finally got a chance to ride mine today. I went out to the garage and I was ashamed to see my poor bike all covered in dust and bugs on the fairing. I fired it up then went for a quick 100 mile ride and cleaned it while I had supper on the smoker. You are correct that some of the bikes on here are beautiful.

Did our annual “Holy Toledo! It’s Cinco de Mayo 200 mile ride today for Mex food in Toledo, WA via all back roads and back. Left at 9:30, Home at 5:00. Seven of us. Two great riding wives joined us on their HDs. 70 degrees! No poser here. At least 10k per year.

Where'd you get that picture of "Walter" ?

Dude. Seriously. That’s what I am talking about. We put in 3 to 4 hundred miles going to lunch on the weekend and there ain’t much polishing time.

I ride most days, I don't have time for polishing, unless it's my fork lowers when I have them out for rebuild and gold emulator install.

Did you get the emulators installed? How much difference did it make? scale of 1-10, how hard was it?

Still waiting on the 1.1kg springs but I expect it to be a huge improvement.

Just get in the habit of cleaning one area after each ride and it will stay nice. Wheels, fork, frame, engine, etc.

15,000 - 20,000 a season for me and my bike is always clean. Just because a bikes clean doesn’t mean it’s not used. Just means the rider isn’t too lazy to clean when he gets back in. Little whiskey and a little soap, water, and wax goes a long way.

Burn!!! And deserved. I need to get the wife to clean it more often. She refuses to wear the appropriate detailing PPE like those young (and not so young) beauties in Daytona Beach.

I got in the habit of debugging my bikes after rides and it stuck...I use paste wax on forward facing surfaces which aids in the process...I ride every day possible, about 200 miles yesterday...never been on a multi-day ride but that should change this year riding up through the u.p. and northern Wisconsin to Minneapolis...I’m sure I’ll clean the bike the day after I get there...zp...

Poser? Yes. Garage Queen? Most assuredly. 8000 miles in 6 years. Wash it? That's women's work. Never washed in 6 years. Took it to the dealer once and they wiped it down. Pissed me right off.

Are you familiar with gold emulators? If not, you should definitely look into them. Significant improvement in handling. Think Roadwing for forks.

Avg. 10k a year on mine. Try and give it a little wipe down with detailer when I get back from a ride. Maybe once a week do a proper job of washing. really does not take that much time! Don't do much night riding, that seems to be the time the bugs are bad around here!
