  • Freedom Combat pipe

So, I got this pipe, it is so SWEET sounding totally fits the sound the Roadstar should have. I really love the pipe if it were not for one small flaw. It hits the pavement before the board does. I played with the mounting and spaced it in another 2/3 of an inch or so. Now I kinda like rubbing the board in the twisties, but now right handers make me worry some. Looking for any other ideas for a 2:1 pipe that sounds pretty damn good, not too loud, not too quiet. Again, the sound from the Combat is freaking perfect, but the worry of dragging the pipe in a tight right hander worries me.

    So, Suggestions?

    You know Jaybo,
That seems strange, my bike sits pretty low and I ride two up all the time, I've never really scraped the pipe.

from the rear it sticks out quite a ways I spaced it in as close to the transfer cover as I could but still it scrapes. Is that a Combat on yours?

That combat pipe is one sweet sounding pipe. And yes, the sound is perfect. The only reason I didn't get is because it is big on the tail end and I was worried about maybe having the problem you are having. So, I took another route and went with the Bassani true duals and threw on a pair of Rinehart slipons I had in my shop. The sound is awesome. Love me the sound of Rineharts. Always did. Even on HD's. I know that Combat wasn't cheap but, If you are going to go the route and spend even more money on your Roadie, this is an option you should consider. The Rineharts won't dragin the corners. Plus, there's something about hearing that sweet sound coming from both sides of the bike while cruising.

Hey grubsie, any chance you could post a video of how your pipes sound? Been thinking of swapping my Bassaani cans and would like to hear some options. BTW, how did you mount them at the back?

It's cold and pouring rain here this morning so no vid until weather clears up. I posted pics of my support bracket on this thread. It's a very complicated piece that attaches the muffler to the bag bracket.. Takes a lot of talent fo fabricate this bracket. Ah, maybe not. https://www.roadstarclinic.com/forum...exhausts/page2

I can't remember, do you have a Roadwing? If not, it would definitely help with the clearance. It doesn't raise the bike as much as it prevents it from sagging like the stock shock does. And I can actually feel the height difference when I crank up the preload.

Yes I have the Roadwing, I don't crank it up much at all when single so I have a cushier ride. I'll try cranking it up though and see if that helps.

Jay, just mount a roller blade wheel on the end of it and call it good! What RR said above....or get a slightly taller rear tire.

      Jaybo,

it's the exact same pipe. That's why I'm so puzzled as to why it would be scraping. I have the Roadwing and I have the rear lowered, but not the front.

Jay is a big guy. [How tall are you Jay?] And he has some big bags, apes, and a bunch of other gear you don't have on your bike Rob. It could easily be enough to make that difference.

That makes sense. I bet cranking in on the Roadwing should help. The Muffler on the Combat is sitting pretty high, that was one of the reasons I bought it. I was scraping every other set of pipes I put on mine, especially with not lowering the front end and just lowering the back.

Hey, I recognize that bike! I'm 6'1" and was 300lbs I'm down 30 though with just eating changes and looking to get down to 225. That may fix my problem! I'll try cranking up the preload though and see what that does. Scared the beejeezus out of me when it happened since I had gotten really used to scraping the boards.
