Roadstar tires

Has anyone ran the Shinko tires? I am running stock wheel size. I have read good reviews but not sure if I like the tread design...

I haverun/currently run Shinko 777HD on 2 roadstars vstar 650 and Royal Star Venture....great tire....cheap. feels fine to me all around. I went through tons of tires, drag radials, slicks etc when I street raced. I learned that some tires are better than others for specific applications for sure....BUT at the end of the day all tires are round, black, and wear out .

make sure you get the 777HD and not just 777...keep the tires at a high psi (I'm running 40-42 in my 18 in custom setup on my Roadstar and 47F 44R n my vstar 650 currently). I talked to a tech at Shinko for length and he told me to run the max psi or close to it on the Shinko sidewall to get the most life out of them...NOT what the bike manufacturer recommends.

They are good quality, softer, grip well, cheap, but won’t last as long as Metzeler, Michelin’s, etc. Doc_V loves them.

On my 3rd set and love them. Actually picking up the front one tonight! 777HD all the way. Was going to go with Michelins but just cant get away from having white walls. Love the look too much.

Take a look at the Kenda Cataclysm tires. Got them on my bike, love 'em.

Shinko 777's front and rear on mine. Love em. Overall for the price a pretty good tire.

I'm running rear size Michelin Com. II on the front of my R*s. The one with the most mileage so far has 27,000 on it and can go another 5-6,000 or so. I don't find any handling or riding problems with them. I run 40 # in them.

The 'consensus' would seem to be that the Michelin Com II might be the best tire, if the money is not an object, but that, for others for whom either the money is an object, or, and this makes a lot of sense to others... If your understanding that it's probably a good idea to not use tires beyond 6 years of age, and you don't actually wear them out in 6 yrs time, that the best value tire anymore, seems to be the Shinko. I remember some years back that the Kenda Kruz was the value tire of choice, but I don't see that name bandied about here anymore. Others?

Didn't someone say that Shinko has a new model tire out recently to replace the HD's that had a wobble issue. IIRC it has a heavier sidewall? Maybe DocV was talking about it just a couple weeks ago??

It's difficult to answer without knowing what you're looking for; is it price, looks, longevity or handling? But the others have said, I personally love the 777s for their sticky handling characteristics, but i'm willing to sacrifice a little longevity for it. If you do go with the 777s, like Dave said, get the H.D.s, they last a little longer. Dave: This is the first I've heard of anything about a new Shinko.

I did add some extra RideOn tire balancer and that resolved the high speed stability issues. Other than that, I don't recall... Unless i had a stroke and don't know it.

ordered me a set yesterday, so will find out how I like them!!!! 777HD's...... and thank you on my wife, she is cancer free, done with all surgeries and ready to ride!!!!!!

I run 18 inch wheels with Shinko podium..very sticky and good solid feel...........Don't know how long they will last as this is a first for me............

Yes, we run them on our 1700 Roadstar and our Stryker both reworked for max HP and love the tires... last better than Dunlaps for sure!

On my second set of Shinko 777HD's and love them. I don't know what other makes are getting for miles but I got 11k out of the back and 15k front the last set. Never got that out of the Dunlop's I used to run. Big plus on price too.
