  • Added a gauge

Just added an oil pressure gauge assembled from parts.
    Go ahead, I dare ya.

  • #2
Used a cut off top portion of a silver plated measuring cup for the bottom half of the gauge bracket. Marshal gauge, 9 inch stainless line, and the fittings.
    Go ahead, I dare ya.

Don't be surprised by the 8 to 12 lbs of pressure when hot. Thats it. 80 when cold 8 to 12 when hot. And sometimes 0 in rush hour traffic in summer time.
              At idle.

Yeah I know. On my other bike I have been surprised by the pressure variations. I did this project really for something to do over the winter and for looks than anything else. The next is replacing the handlebars with new stainless apes. That should take the rest of the winter cold to complete if I take my time on it and stretch out the work.
                Go ahead, I dare ya.

I have my Oil Pressure Gauge in the same location. For some reason , I can only get about 5-6 weeks before the cover lens spider webs. They have never leaked , but it's irritating to look down and see these cracks. I've tried multiple gauges with plastic and glass lens , and everyone splits.

That is definitely discouraging. O keep you posted about what happens when the riding season starts.

Just wondering if anyone has a clue to why this happens. I don't have a cover on the underside.

I HIGHLY doubt actual glass spiderwebbed.

Thanks for the comment Tim . This last gauge I installed is supposed to have a glass lens. Even so , why would any lens crack without being touched by anything ?

Materials expand and contract with heat and cold respectively so the tolerances are to tight in your gauge and as a result cracked you lens or spider cracked it.

By underside I assume you mean of the gauge. That is very strange. How did you mount it? What is it mounted in? What kind of bracket? Can you show a picture of it?

If I could ever figure out how to post pictures , there would be a complete history of all my work on this bike.

Is the banjo bolted to the oil tank drain?

No. It is the port for checking oil pressure. It's in the service manual under checking oil pressure.
The silver motor and the black motors are not the same fitting. same banjo differant bolt size.
