if you havent allready start looking at doing the front at the same time. bike will handle like its 200lbs lighter, lol.

i tried the progressive and race tech. i will forever now run race tech and it was only like $20 more.

Any hints on where to buy the barons ais kit at online? Im a 05 so mines the flanges not the elbows.

You can find the ais block off kit at many places, just do a google search.
Baron Custom Accessories Air-Injection Removal Kit - BA-2551-00 Block-Off Plate

You could also just make your own out of steel plate. All you have to do is trace the plates from the actual connectors and find a plug for the manifold nipple at a local hardware store. If you're not concerned with removing the air solenoid you can just pull the hose from the intake manifold and plug the nipple or even cut the hose and put a plug in it. No vacuum no ais.

I just mine as well can’t wait to get it on. I’m looking into race techs also I’m just not sure if I’m mechanically capable of doing it. Little nervous about messing with the forks having never done anything like that before.

fork spring swap is easier than the shock install to me.

I have not taken the front end apart either. But I’m a mechanical technician. I can fix anything. As long as I can figure out how it comes apart and with the help here, I’m golden. But. Ill have to due them at separate times

Why do you have to adjust the forks to install the roadwing?

You dont. We are talking about replacing trhe front springs at the same time as replaceing the rear shock I just ordered.

Lol.....you have to take the rear shock off to release the tension on the front springs that way you can unscrew the nut....Duh!....

Your going to feel like your on a different bike after you get your RoadWing installed!! It has about 20 increments of adjustment (with the RAP). I have mine set at about six clicks. I'm in-between 210 and 220 lbs. Feels like it is stuck to the road, compared to the factory shock! The only negative is your front end is going to feel sloppy. I went with the progressive spring, made a big difference!

I also run the Progressive fork springs and upped the oil weight to 7.5w by mixing 5w & 10w at a 50/50 mix.
I expected an upgrade in handling but not as much as it actually made, now I wish I'd just done straight 10w oil.
I could feel the improvement before I was even out of the parking lot.

Are springs enough alone or do I need the emulators too. What do the emulators do?

                      Comment

                      • #14
you dont need the emulators. its a huge step up with springs alone, but the emulators are another huge step up from that. you can always add them later as well.
the emulators will make your simple damper rod suspension emulate/ mimic higher end cartridge shocks with multi valve setups

Awesome! I should pinstripe “Bertha Butt” on the bike.

Question on the Race tech springs. If they recommend .86kg/mm but its in between springs, do you round up or down?

Sweet. I gained most of my weight after marriage and a lot after kid #2. Went from 115/120ish to 150/160.

This is just me, but personally, I'd always err on the side of conservative when it comes to suspension. Better to have a stiffer than expected suspension than a softer than expected suspension. But that's just me... A former road racer.

I agree. You can adjust, fine tune with oil weight somewhat.

I cannot say I have ever seen my bike's butt lift by adjusting the preload on the Roadwing with the rap. I gotta say I had to adjust it after I took the trunk off last summer when i set it up as a solo rider! Was way too stiff and was bouncing me around like a pogo. Doing!
