  • Is Yamaha not allowing anyone to compare the new Venture/Eluder to other brands???

Just spent half hour on Youtube and couldn't find a single *real* comparison video between the new Venture/Eluder and any of the other touring bikes. Only those damn robot-voice videos and a couple with still images and some *seriously* annoying music. [Oh and one comparing it to a 1983 Venture ] Why is that?

There are *plenty* of "first impression" videos, but no comparisons. Is Yamaha not letting any of the motorcycle media outlets, or anyone for that matter, do a back to back comparison video of the new Star touring models?

If you know of some *real* comparison videos please posted them here.

    Thanks!

You would think there would be some magazine articles and reviews on it by now.

Those were some nice looking baggers straight out of the factory.

They sure didn’t bring it to the IMS so you could look it over in a room full of other bikes.

Good eye Mort, I saw that one but missed the Eluder in the title. Thanks for posting that!

the bagger shootout was good, I liked the Indian bagger I demo'ed this last year, so the comments about it and the Eluder were interesting to me. If it wasn't for that Fugly fairing on the Indian it would place higher. I need to see the Eluder in person first..

I've always loved Indian bikes but the fairing they came up with just screams 'Polaris' at me.
I'd like to see it redesigned to fit with the rest of the bike's lines.

Well I own a Polaris UTV, so I like them for the most part. But yeah, that fairing...

Agreed. It's ironic that everyone said they like the way the Indian performed and felt, but it's biggest drawback was it's appearance... And to think, for decades, probably the most desirable thing about the Indian was it's looks! Hell, even the 90's reviving of the brand was basically a re-clothed Harley with Indian because of that *look*.

Subscribe to Cycle News.com and Motorcycle.com. They're free. Each one recently had comparison tests pitting the Venture and Eluder against other factory baggers. You can access back issues if I recall correctly. I know the BMW K1600 B won one of them. At 160 horsepower, it's hardly a fair comparison though. I believe it was actually less expensive then the Yamahas were

Jay, I love the Indians fairing reminds me of an art deco train from the 50's. I have test road one and will be swapping the R* for one in the near future.

FPB That BMW gets high marks in every review I have seen, but to me its not a bagger. Its more of a sport adventure bike and there is nothing wrong with that I just think it is designed for something the other bikes are not so you are right it is not a fair fight.

I own the Venture TC. I've put close to 2000 miles on it since Dec 19. The more I ride this bike the more I love it. I chose the red one cause they didn't have black. Otherwise I am very happy with my new bike. Yes it is definitely a bike you can ride cross country. Click image for larger version

Have you had any desire to change the exhaust yet or are you satisfied with the stock setup?

Anyone else get the email from Yamaha with a link to two videos, one is titled, "Inside The Factory -See what happens inside the factory as the 113-cubic-inch V-Twin of the Star Venture and Star Eluder takes shape." but when you click on the "Watch Now" link it takes you to Eluder Press Release and nothing about the factory.

Thanks Bubbakahuna! Man that's a big motor! Everything looks bigger, especially that clutch.

Not just the clutch & 6-speed transmission but the twin alternators are also pretty beefy.

Everything about it is bigger, that's why Yamaha had to design a new chassis for it.
No WAY that monster would fit in a Roadstar frame, not even a Liner frame would fit.
