  • Kuryakyn ISO Grips Any Good?

My hands tend to fall asleep quickly and I was told that a set of Kuryakyn ISO grips should help solve the problem. Just wondering if anyone has a set installed and their thoughts.

I've had them, but never needed them, and got rid of them, because I actually preferred the stock... But since stock isn't doing it for you, others will give you their experience with the ISO's.

I have these on one of mine and prefer them.

The Kury’s Make my soft tender Lilly white hands stink like rubber. The Avon’s not so much.

I switched to Avons and prefer them to the ISO Kury.

I like the Kurys just fine. I wear gloves so I don't have a problem with the smell of rubber Harold mentioned.

Avons are better grips & are MADE IN THE USA

Both my R*s came with ISO grips and they've been fine. No rubber smell either.

The area that holds the end of the throttle cables broke on mine. We were able to get it repaired, but it did break again. To their credit, Kuryakin did send me a new set of grips, at no charge. No receipt needed, and the grips were 10 years old. If I ever need grips again, I'd buy Avon. As far as the grips go, they fit, and looked fine. They were easy on my hands, and didn't smell like rubber.

I just looked up the Avons. I see they come with interchangeable throttle cable attachment points. If these are made of metal, or a stronger plastic, there would be absolutely no question I'd buy Avons next time.

Anyone got got info on what they're made of?

I have the Kury's, they were on the bike when purchased (used) They're OK, but do tend to dirty the hands. No telling how old they are, bike is a 2006, so they could be 12 years old. If needed, I would replace with the Avons aforementioned. Many others here love them.

I've broken two sets so far where the throttle cables attach. I put the throttle tube from a stock set in and no issues yet.

Mine had them on it when I got it in 2011. 34k and 7 years later they are doing fine. My hands still go numb though

After a few thousand miles , I decided the Kury's were too FAT for my liking. Felt kinda like gripping tree limbs. Friend of mine changed grips on his Victory and the OEMs fit my Star perfect and the size is EXACTLY what works for me. Long or Short runs are great.

As per usual thanks for the replies, leaning towards the Avon brand now.

If I had to buy another set sometime, I’d get the Avon’s.

Your hand size and the gloves you wear can also make a difference between comfort or not. I prefer the stock grips with my hand size and gloves.

I had a set of the Kurys on my '07 when the throttle sleeve broke,.. the only way I got home was due to the fact that the fracture left a jagged edge inside the grip, allowing me to get SOME throttle action. 10-15 miles at @ 30 mph max is no fun...had to twist the throttle 400degrees to get what throttle I had, and could not shift gears, for fear of stalling. I didn't know that I could have contacted Kuryakyn so long after I installed them. I ended up with a set of Avons, and am happy so far, but haven't made any long trips with them.

I’ve had them 5 years. The chrome is peeling on the end caps and looks like hammered chit. I don’t like them with gloves and the palm paddle is on the wrong spot with my apes and a bit dangerous. I wish the paddle was adjustable.

I put Avon’s on a few years ago and would do it again.
