  • LED Headlight and Passing Lamps

Has anyone changed out the headlight and passing lamp for LED ones? I have the stock yamaha light bar & cans. I like the halo rings. Anyone have a set they really like? Can you provide a link to where you got them? Thanks so much!

I put these on yesterday and its been the best $100 ive spent on the roadstar. I thought my oem lights were good until i put these on. They are awesome and the light pattern is excellent. They fit right in too. I didnt have to modify anything. It took me 30 minutes.

Duke, if I had to guess I think low/high beam. the second pic lights up the upper limbs a bit more.

Yeah, the second one is high bean, its kinda hard to see on a photo but it makes a big difference. I will try to get one on the highway

I went with a company called Hogworkz. US Manufactured (not China) and backed up by a solid company if there's ever a problem. A little more expensive, but the support is more than worth it to me.

Bought the same ones, their great lights. Mine didn't go in as easy. The headlight went in no problem, but the passing lamps I went thru hell to get them to fit. I had an aftermarket passing lamp setup that they didn't fit in the cans, and then I tried the stock cans off my 00 and they didn't fit right in those. I ended up buying Harley passing cans and all is right in the world. Great lights for the price.

Truck-Lite (27270C) Headlamp and the Truck-Lite (80275) LED Auxiliary Lamp is what i am using as well as a couple other guys. but you will need the older style buckets for the driving lights (the one with the bolt going to the side instead of going straight up into the bucket not at home or i would send a pic of the bucket i am talking about. these are some bright lights and i think i member is using them on his big truck

He's looking for ones with the halo rings. To my knowledge, while a very fine light, the Truck-lite doesn't have this feature.

I was hoping the lamps would fit the cans. This is my current setup. The lights are after market

I believe that the Hogworkz will fit. To be sure, I would remove the light from one and measure the diameter. Hogworkz' website has a chat feature that will put you in touch with a technician. He will be able to tell you for sure.

BTW, you'll have to remove the cheap on/off switch if there is one and reterminate the lights and cans. Pretty easy to do, just be prepared for it. To fill the hole left by the switch, I put blue painters tape on the outside of the can and then used clear RTV to plug the hole.

Does the switch need to come off because of insufficient clearance within the can with the led lights? I'm currently using harley cans on a Yamaha lightbar. I went that way as it was impossible to use custom Adjure lights with the Yamaha cans, the size was wrong.

On mine it was due to clearance. YMMV.

Gonna do led upgrades next on my bike. Will get HD passing lamp buckets on ebay and get the sunpie brand on amazon. Plenty of good reviews.

But also some scathing ones. After my brother went through a long protracted ordeal w/ a HID headlight, I'll wait until I can afford H-D or Trucklite.

I know these are cheap. But lets say one of the expensive ones go out, at the least its gonna take a week to get a replacement. For the same price of original harley lights i can get 8 sets shipped to my door next day with prime. And leds have come a long way when it comes to reliability, even the cheap ones. In fact i can almost guarantee you the "expensive" ones use the exact same led. Of all the light bars and led pods i have bought i had an issue with 1, which took me 10 minutes to resolder the main positive to the board. I never had an issue with a led or drivers, and i have a lot of pods and bars.
I support US companies whenever i can, but when the markup is 500-800% it is plainly a rip off.

Not halos but another vote for the Trucklites. Gteat light for the last 4 year's and no issues at all. I am plenty pleased with the output .

I bought the El Cheapo Chinese LED setup on eBay for the 2000 when i fixed it up.
I immediately bought another setup for the 2006.
Under $100 and they are awesome.
                    YMMV

Considering the fact that my brother's headlight would just go out, all at once, leaving him only with his driving lights, I don't want to chance it. Besides, I use a headlight modulator, and I don't think it'll work on a HID or LED (you would not believe how many people pulled over when I came up behind them, thinking I was a motor officer!)

I agree with this, not halos as mentioned but if you want to see at night, i'm not sure that these can be beat. The reviews I have read, even rate them better than the HD daymaker lights.
I have been using them for years and love them.

I had a JW Speaker headlight surrounded by 2 LED Aux lights. Great nighttime illumination. The problem I had with it was from the oncoming lane, it looked like 2 spots and a hole. For me, the Halo-maker gives me the daytime visibility with only a little bit of nighttime illumination sacrificed.

El Cheapo Grande passing lamp LEDs from eBay, I paid $32 shipped for the pair.
Slipped right into the stock Yamaha cans, just need to wire in the pigtails that come with them.

You won't find aux lights that are halos. Only the main headlight.
