  • Preparing for the iron butt challenge

So in about 2 weeks we are doing the iron butt challenge. I’m thinking about getting a drink holder for my bars as I get pretty thirsty. Any suggestions on what will fit on the stock bars if any and any suggestions overall

A 2 liter Camelback with a bite valve might be more functional than a drink holder. Less stopping to replace the bottle!

Drink 2 beers and eat a hot dog at every gas stop. It’ll go by really quick that way. And you won’t feel all the soreness

i did it 2 years ago. We brought breakfast bars and peanuts to eat while we were getting gas so we didn't have to stop for food... we stayed on the interstate and it took us from 4:30 am until 9-9:30 pm..(Dayton Ohio to Shamrock Texas).. good luck

leaving early makes it feel like you are getting a fresh start after a couple hours when the sun comes up.. makes it a lot easier than spending a lot of time riding after it gets late and the body says it is time to stop

In preparation I put a roadwing in today. I’m still waiting for the rap to show up in the mail but I took her out for a ride today and holy crap what a difference!

Yeah the 20 mile ride I did they were pretty rough. I’ve read to use racetechs but their website only has 04 and up

Yep, Roadwing in the rear and Racetech with heavier oil up front and it's a whole new bike!

I regret not getting them when I did my RT Springs. Next winter.

Got the rap done today. Also since I’ve bought the bike I’ve always had a problem keeping the left side highway peg mount from slipping. I believe them to be kuryakyn but I’m not positive, anyhow so I take them apart and look at them and the left side had 2 different size hinges. One says 1 1/4 and the other 1.35. The previous owner ditched the spacer and wrap Teflon tape on the crash bar and tightened it up.
