I am interested in putting a bat wing on my 01 Midnight xv1600asn. Any recommendations on brand and experiences with adding one of these to a Midnight model Road Star? I have windshields on my old Pan Heads but never had a scoot with a with a bat wing. Thanks for any advise.

If you're looking for something you can added a stereo system to, Reckless and Tsukayu both make a good batwing. The Tsukayu is fiberglass, and I think the Reckless might be too, but I'm not a 100% certain. I'm sure someone else will chime in. USA Trailer also makes an inexpensive fiberglass batwing. If you plan to paint it or want to add gauges, you can always get a used Harley batwing on eBay.

If you don't care about the stereo, or want removable, Memphis Shades makes a really nice ABS removable batwing. That's what I have in my sig pict below. I sometimes wish I'd gone with one of the others, because of the stereo, but then there's those hot summer days where I can take it off and it's like having another bike.

There are a few options to choose from. On the lower end of the scale; You can pick up a harley fairing and retrofit it to the bike or a Memphis shade fairing.
Moving up the scale is the Reckless fairing and the WideOpenCustom (both fiberglass and come blank or with stereo cutouts). the Hopzilla is a little more expensive and then there are probably a couple of others that I'm not aware of.
The Wide Open Custom is a one piece fairing and mates up the the windshield mounting brackets. You'd have to purchase the brackets separately, so all in all it's about a grand.

I had WOC on my 07 very nice fairing with nicer lines than the cheaper ones. Not as abrupt transitions from one surface plane to the other as the USA Trailer fairing.

Here is my 05 midnight with a usa trailor batwing that I bought in black gellcoat....no painting required. Its not metal flake but its close enough that no one notices. The chrome windshield trim is from reckless.

I bought a USA Trailer fairing a couple of weeks ago. I don't plan on leaving it on I just bought it for long trips. The gelcoat was all scratched on it and it looked like @#$% so I'm having it painted to match my bike. I bought it on Ebay and contacted the seller and he made it right with me. Hopefully I like it more when it gets back from paint.

I just bought a tsukaya a couple of my months ago and love it. I ordered it with Bluetooth and in the middle is a glove compartment. Shipped to my door with everything installed was 639. I think it was a good deal. If you go with the boox one and take pics and send them to them to use they offer a 50 dollar rebate

I recently bought a WOC Faring for my wife's Victory. Quality is great.

Huh? $750.00 for the base fairing no extras? Too pricey for me.

                      Dick,

Yes they are very expensive, but excellent quality. With that being said I would never pay those prices either! I found a used one with the Bluetooth radio and speakers and brackets locally for $400. It also came with the Klockwerks windshield, an extra new clear windshield, and the smoked lowers.

Thanks much everyone for the insights into the products concerning batwings. One thing I have noticed after much review is the fact that the fairings appear to be a bit short in length compared to the stock handlebars. Is there a brand out there that would cover the length that anyone is aware of? It looked like in pics I have seen that the reckless seems to cover it. Any advise? Still looking for the right fit. Thanks again and sorry for the late response but life happens.

Never had any problems with wind on my hands with my WOC with stock bars.

I remember when I was searching for mine someone did make an oversized batwing but I can’t recall who. I ended up getting the Memphis shades with quick release for mine. I am happy with the finish and did not paint mine. The quick release in my opinion is good for cleaning the bike but with my apes I must say I can’t stand riding with the windshield off at all. I prefer to ride with headphones for music as I can clearly here it at all speeds and it also quiets some exhaust noise and the normal roadstar noises also go away. I do have future plans for a road glide fairing (which you can’t get brackets for anymore) but won’t be installing a stereo in it because i prefer headphones now.
