So I traded my Milwaukee collection for a 2000 yamaha roadstar it has some Vance & Hines pipes and a K&N filter. I'll throw some pictures in. My question after living on this forum for the last week slowly going through the bike I came to the carburetor yesterday. The only reason I even decided to attack this mid afternoon is because of all the talk about rejetting and aftermarket needles. I opened her up to find the jets and needle still a stock set up. Also took pictures of it open. Pretty dirty. Trying to get this backfire to go away and get the bike running like it should. Any help pointing me on a good kit, advice, or anything else I should know would be very much appreciated.
2000 Yamaha Road Star Silverado
Just under 40k I believe
All recalls done(checked w/Yamaha)
The kid i got it from said he played with the carb. FML. I closed it yesterday. Opened 3.5 turns. Seemed extra rich when I ran it for a second after checking the needle and reassembly. I closed half a turn. Also rerouted both hoses from airbox. Airbox was missing all the mounting tabs. So I went custom. Want to re jet. Then run a cone as the stock box is trashed. Definitely noticed a lovely difference in the ride today when I finally got her back together. Just want to go ride all day. Tire change is overdue though. It never ends! Haha
