So I was talking with Duke this evening and we got on the topic of rims. Duke has figured out a good way of making the rear wheel of a 1300 vstar work on the RS. As many of you know finding cast wheels for a RS is either difficult, expensive or both. 1300 vstar wheels are quite a bit easier and way cheaper to get ahold of. Has anyone really looked I to making the front wheel work for the RS? I know that RRS_07RdStar had checked on his bikes and this is what he came up with....
"The short answer to this question is the Vstar1300 mag wheels will not bolt up directly to the Roadstar 1700. You may be able to adapt the front wheel with new spacers for both the axle and the disc or calipers as they are both different measurements. The discs on the front are the same diameter and thickness, and the rim width and tire size are the same on both.
The rear won't work at all without major modifications, The disc side dimension from center of wheel is the same on both bikes, but the discs are different diameters and thicknesses. The wheel rim width is 3.5" on the 1700 and 4.5" on the 1300. The 1300 mounts a 170/70 B16 where as the 1700 mounts a 150/80 B16. Probably the biggest issue would be on the pulley side, on the 1300 the pulley is ~ 3/4" farther out from wheel center for clearance of the wider tire."
So the big question is has anyone else looked into this? And if not is there anyone that understands this stuff better than me(which is not hard) willing to look into what it would take to make the front work?
