well i looked into putting it on the bonneville, bit i would need some custom brackets for that too, so for now i pulled the clutch in, and put it in neutral. i am looking a t all these cool mig welders out that make welding a snap. and waitin on maybe a package deal on a existing hack

Absolute best choice....one all setup.....I still am looking for a complete road star trike or sidecar setup. I know I can always sell my vstar sidecar setup quick and easily

FPB, Lug, which bike would u put in on , the RS or the bonneville? The bonnie is a nice bike, but it may not have the torque.. or top end pull power, either way, i think im gonna let my local 2nd gen sidecar hook it up for 2K , he builds the subframe and all..

My vstar 650 has little power BUT good gearing to haul the sidecar. With 100lb passenger I can go about 70moh top end

Nice to have shaft drive too with the V-star.

The Triumph has plenty of power. A 350cc would pull that sidecar. My 650 BMW pulled a Velorex with no problems and it was only 30 horsepower. Racing sidecars like you see at the Isle of Man are all 650's. I know it sounds absurd, but $2K to mount it isn't all that bad.

Looks to me like he's just gonna have to extend the front of the sidecar frame where you can move the toe - in (front lower) mount behind the footboard mount. That will put you in the neighborhood of correct toe-in. That should allow the front upper sidecar mount to be in front of the brake pedal far enough as to not interfere with anything. It'll work, I have it all pictured in my head. I know you really want it on the Roadstar, so go for it!

You have 3,000 in the side car already, 2,000 to get it hooked up. That's 5000. How much could you sell your road star for now? 3 to 4,000 maybe? That means basically you have 9000 and lots of work to be done to have a road star with a sidecar. I guess I would start looking hard at an already set up roadstar with sidecar professionally done. You might get lucky and find one for eight grand, sell your sidecar and Roadstar for maybe seven grand and be done with it.

The only thing harder than finding one already set up is selling the one you have already set up. It's an exercise in self-indulgence, pretty much. There's a Goldwing a couple hundred miles from me with a 2 seater hack, 50K miles looks nice for $8K I wish I had the funds. It's been on Craigslist for a few weeks now, even at that price. I figured it would have been snatched up quick. I'm at the point now where I don't care what kind of bike it's on, I just want a rig.

i m waiting and watching, and yes, FPB, 2 K install is actually worth it, now that I understand all that is involved in adapting any sidecar to a bike. so im watching and waiting . Im thinking about a honda 1100 shadow shaft drive. ??? than i think, even a HD sporster would be more marketable come resale time(as a tug)???

I want to put 500 mi on my sidecar rig the last 18 months but will never get rid of it. It's just too much fun. I would sell it if I found a roadstar with a sidecar setup on it but until then I'm keeping my little V Star

How big a Vulcan? Gray mustard means water, was it in a flood?

YES, water, like an outboard. no flood, just poor care and lots of rain. no rust tho.

FPB, its a 1500 , runs like a bat out a hell like 50 ish in 1st, 5 spd, shafty , radiator, low CG. not a bad bike. they had histrory of POG, B4 2000(Plastic Oil pump Gear), and instances of 2nd gear issues that plague many motorbikes, often from poor m maintenenance, or just beetaphuck. they woulda sold waymore if not for bad rep from these issue.

                  • #51
I would think you should reverse mount it but on a sidecar setup I don't know if it will make that big of a difference honestly. I would throw a car tire if you can find one that would fit simply because it's cheaper and will last longer and you're not worried about handling on a sidecar bike.

Always wanted a Valk....and this is perfect. I'd have to sell 2 bikes to make room. May have one of my 1979 xs1100's sold soon...one more and I could get the flying Bannana!

SKWEARpeg (Gordon) is going to sell his SideCar rig with everything already done for a Road Star. I am sure he would sell it with or without the bike. He put a lot into this to make it nice and strong and work perfect on a Road Star. I have personally rode this at slow speed and highway speed. That thing is a hoot!

He is not really on this message board anymore but he lives across that bay about 20 minutes from me. Let me know and I will put anyone in touch with him so yall can work out the details.

Someone mentioned the back tire earlier...if you can go with a car tire by all means do. A sidecar rig will eat a motorcycle rear tire in 5000 miles.

the rear will be a car tire, as it is a cast wheel.

                                  Ural w/ sidecar for $2500.
Keep the hack, part out the bike and end up with the car for nothing.
