What....no dildo spike???? That bike looks really good. I should swap out my air cleaner for one of those. Did you make a bracket to mount the back plate to the engine or just rely on the clamp to hold it on?

I sort of like the orignal "CodPiece" looking one. The lines seem right to me. Only cocern is does it poke out to far and annoy you leg/knee.

K&N RC 1624 with matching crank case breather. Held on only by clamp, ala old school dirt bike style. Fell off once in 6 years. I was lucky enough to find it, and now I have it safety wired so it can't fall off the bike. The crank breather you can find for around $10 at Autozone. I like it, kind gives it an old school hot rod vibe. Breather was under $50, does not interfere with leg, and allows easy access to the carb.

This is a stock unit, the only difference is your cover is flatter, the middle might stick out an inch more than yours but is well rounded.

Yep i think this pic is the orignal that came standard. I really like it but would it restrict air flow. Could you put a K&n inside the shell and still get good flow.

Tell me its not chrome plastic please!

You can get stock k&n filters for them and drill holes in the housing to increase airflow.

This K&N 1980 model is cheap and fits under the tank.

Best of the bunch by far, the only reason I bought the bike! (I thought it was stock...)

Haters gonna hate but I love it!

And if i am not mistaken, yes, the stock air cover is chromed plastic

This is a direct bolt on. Just clamps on the manifold. It is a K&N RA067v does not interfere with legs / knee at all

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into it. Someone on StarBike forum did something kind of interesting with the stock cover to open it up. The good thing is there are options.

Really like this look as well. It looks close to tank . How much clerance is there please. Does it just go straight on or is there a bracket behind it.

                  Thank ABC

seems I spend more time washing it than I do riding it when it's 100 degrees and we haven't seen rain in over a month

K&N RA-068V. Definitely large, but fits on the bike - upside down. lol.

Only concern is that because it sticks out so far, wet weather is not your friend. Not that it ever is on a bike.

I cut up a beer can one afternoon to stick in the front-facing side of the cylindrical filter element. Works well.

                  Wooblyboot,
Yes, it requires a bracket to be attached to the back of the filter then bolted to mounting points on the cylinder heads, where the stock air cleaner attached.

And yes, it does fit pretty tight to the tank. I had to shape the top of the chrome cover to keep it from hitting the tank.

This is what you do when the chrome starts to peel. Paint and stickers

If you find one of these they are pretty cool. Got this one really cheap because of peeling chrome. It will probably end up getting paint and pinstripping
