couple things. 91 octane and less really hot than 93. You have 4.5 gallons total of gas however only 3.7 in the main tank and 8/10 of a gallon in the auxiliary tank or the fuel pump is. You really do not want to use up that 8/10 of a gallon because that's what cools your fuel pump. I replaced a $400 pump because previous owner must have ran it down often. Pump gets hot you pour cold gas on it cracks a housing loss of pressure. General rule of thumb on these bikes is about 120 mi you should be looking for a gas station. They're very thirsty they have aggressive gearing and huge motor. Definitely do not try to get every last mile out of the tank full because when that pump gets hot it risks cracking and then it's not fun to replace and it's expensive.

Ivan's Tune with K&N panel filter and lid off and aftermarket exhaust is the hot ticket. I'm getting ready to replace my iridium spark plugs now and check the air filter. Take your time on removing the tank There's a good YouTube video. It's a pain in the butt compared to a road star for sure.Also when changing transfer case fluid you don't have to remove the exhaust. Like the roadstar there's a fill a weep hole and a drain. I undo the drain which is a Torx 40 and replace it with a normal headed bolt for easier access. I can just remove the weepole and fill through there. The fill plug is in a position where exhaust is in the way. So I leave the fill plug alone and use the weep hole to fill it until it weeps out of there. A long bit of hose and a syringe does the trip..Make sure to get a manual has a nice onboard diagnostic process for looking at things. There are four coils two of them easy to get two of them hard to get to.Otherwise similar to a road star engine just bigger and hotter

the PO just told me he had an option for the air box…drill 6-1/2 in holes in it ..sounded like it makes sense..it’s not wide open so water / wet is less likely if your stuck in a downpour ?

The market seems to be soft on Stratoliner and Roadliner right now and pretty solid on Road Star as far as selling. Found an '06 with 50,000 mi original owner all service records fuel pump has been replaced which is a big expense no third gear noise. Tons of good chrome accessories that I could scavenge and sell if I wanted to. But with the full windshield quick release and the quick release sissy bar on the rear I may just keep it as a touring bike and keep it mostly stock. It has a Mustang passenger seat and I have an ultimate rider seat with built-in backrest on my '07. Too good of a deal to pass up guy was getting older and wants to play golf and not ride motorcycles. Plus it's only a hundred miles from me which makes it nice.

Where'd you get that Stratoliner? Looks exactly like the one my buddy Joshua traded off to some dude in Valpo.

lid completely and simply removed K&N filter with Fender washers to retain. Underneath the speedo bezel in the tank there is a star-shaped hole that allows water to escape from under the speedo bezel Unfortunately that would fall right on top of the open air filter. I take a couple pieces of Gorilla Glue duct tape and cover that hole. That prevents the water from going underneath. I haven't had an issue with this at all.

Looks good solo. Bad thing is if you want to do rear quick detach sissy bar front quick detached locking windshield and saddlebags and brackets you're going to be spending a ton of money. These things parts wise go for more than road stars

Very good. If you sell the stuff you'll get a small fortune but better keep it cuz if you ever want it back it's a pain to find

Okay decided to make some money. Started partying this thing out. It had a Roadhouse slip-on muffler that I Didn't even know was not stock lol. So I pulled the saddlebags and brackets, the chrome trim rails that go around the saddlebags, the windshield and mounts, the sissy bar and mounts, both the windshield and sissy bars have these cool spindle mounts with a key lock and they're quick disconnect. Also pulled the expense of slip-on off and replaced it with the stock liner muffler I had laying on the shelf. Went to my lake place today with the saddlebags and brackets and sold those along with the sissy bar backrest for Damn good money. These liner parts bring big money.I've got a set of nice isogrips to put on it and I'm actually taking it tomorrow to a paintless dent removal guy to look at a small ding in the front fender and two small areas on the back fender to see if he can get them perfect. I'll probably end up getting a lay down license plate frame since it's cheap and neat.May keep it may flip it not sure but it's a fun ride.

I'm a mini hoarder. I kept all my original parts. I bought the fancy Corbin studded pillion seat and backrest, but my wife won't come near the motorcycle, so I took them off and they're in the top of the garage. So now I'm a solo guy on the motorcycle. I've hung just about every Chrome thing on it I could find while trying to remain tasteful. I recently looked and you can't hardly find any nice accessories for our Road Star anymore.

06 and 07 had the potential 3rd gear issue...I've seen several with 3rd gear noise and very few where 3rdngear actually failed. Not a safety issue (nothing locks up) but a tooth can break off 3rd and makes a noise while in 3rd. My 07 has it and I'll ride it until it doesn't go into 3rd then maybe I'll fix it lol. Have to pull motor and split cases ....better to buy low mileage 2008-2011 motor and swap honestly
