  • Sold two of my Road Stars and picking up another Liner...

The market seems to be soft on Stratoliner and Roadliner right now and pretty solid on Road Star as far as selling. Found an '06 with 50,000 mi original owner all service records fuel pump has been replaced which is a big expense no third gear noise. Tons of good chrome accessories that I could scavenge and sell if I wanted to. But with the full windshield quick release and the quick release sissy bar on the rear I may just keep it as a touring bike and keep it mostly stock. It has a Mustang passenger seat and I have an ultimate rider seat with built-in backrest on my '07. Too good of a deal to pass up guy was getting older and wants to play golf and not ride motorcycles. Plus it's only a hundred miles from me which makes it nice.

Is that seat two-toned or is that just the lighting?

If you haven't had one before you will love it. Tons more power than a road star. Highly recommend Ivan's Flash, K and N air filter with lid off, and some good exhaust. Makes a world of difference.

would be much better with aftermarket exhaust not sure if his flash works well with the stock exhaust. Very restrictive.

Just buy a $70 drop-in panel K and an air filter and use some fender washers to hold it down and leave the lid to the air box off. Ivan has dynoed all kinds of different fancy air intakes and found out that is the most effective. Your bike will be a monster if you do Ivan's Flash get a good exhaust and the air filter. I beat 114 Harleys like they're sitting still. My bike makes 105 horse and 126 lb of torque to the tire. I've had it to 142 mph on GPS. Shift at 6k....awesome bike...but thirsty ....30-32 mpg at 85-90 mph but 4el2 mpg at 60. It has short gearing and it runs 3200 rpm at 80 or so...

Even stock it's a big difference. You'll notice that if you're in 5th gear at 60 mph you do not need to downshift to pass. If you crack the throttle at 60 miles an hour and 5th gear it feels as fast accelerating as your road star does in second gear. Seriously.

It is a big pain in the ass to work on compared to a road star for sure. Everything takes longer more complicated more tightly packaged etc.If you ever have to pull the gas tank like to do the air filter make sure you also clean the ISC and that you replace a spark plugs I would recommend Iridium NGK.

u guys said they have 3rd gear issues, and PIA to work on, add that to grandfather clock speedo and flash gordon lights, spells not for me. im not in need of any more pwer than the RS gives. plus, FL bikes usually come with a patina that looks like 40 yrs old in any other dry state,fl humidiyt, even when garaged, so they just aint worth it to me. my stable generally has 3 bikes, and 2 scooters these days. i got an 04, 05, 00 trike, and 2 yamaha C3's , if u never rode one, you should. dont require MC license, great for OIL and beer runs.
