$500 Road Star runs like a raped ape

Got carb done and went pumpless and other little tweaks....

Set tire pressure ran it set idle. Went out yesterday with a couple other Road Star buddies and we were getting it....this bike runs fantastic and hard....2 into 1 pipe makes good power. Ran it to redline many times (seafoam in tank and oil before I change it). Hits 115 mph gps with windshield and saddlebags). Gonna change oil/filter and transfer case fluid and bleed front and rear brakes tonight then a quick cleanup and up for sale.

When at 70mph on speedo it's 65 on GPS. I hillbilly rigged phone for gps app on windshield (gorilla glue tape lol). I didn't look down at speedo when it was all done....I would assume it would be buried?

Most every Road Sttar I have had has been off 5mph at highway speed almost always 70 speedo = 65 gps. I think when I did 65T rear pulley it mostly spot on....and my white bike that had 31T front pulley it was off 8-9mph at highway speed ...90 speedo = 81/82 mph gps

Carb set up wrong...fuel pump possibly not working 100% (aftermarket junk and made noise and vibrated awful)...started and ran ok....but after removing the carb and cleaning everything and setting it up correctly and doing all the necessary steps for pumpless and fresh plugs it runs out perfectly...waiting on used vstar 650 idle cable and bracket to relocate under seat frame area. I will even throw on a nearly new Shinko front tire to match the newer rear tire and belt that are on it now. Someone will get a nicely setup mechanically great bike for a reasonable price. May have a local guy already interested

I think he did try but was getting next messages and probably had to local guys tell him what to do and it just got to be no fun after a while. Especially I believe he had it for 30,000 mi and then the trouble cropped up so he had other bikes to ride so just letting this one go. Sometimes it's not the money is the piece of my headache and time spent driving instead of wrenching.
