Another Exhaust Question

I recently installed a set of Cobra 2-into-1 pipes with the chrome end tip and that tip is now turning a kind of gold color. Is that normal? The pipes I took off were slash-cuts with no end tips, so this wasn't an issue.

other than coloring, what do you think of it? is it reasonable enough that it would not wake up the dead? sometimes, i go for a ride at night. i dont want to be that guy waking up the neighborhood as i leave or return home.

Kerber exhaust in my opinion is pretty decent quality except for the chrome on the heat shield and especially their tips. I had multiple sets of Cobra pipes on bikes I've purchased and every single one the Chrome tip has peeled and looks like shit. The rest of the exhaust seems pretty solid. But those chrome tips are absolute junk you have to scrape them down and repaint with the high temp paint

These pipes are pretty respectable. They definitely don't have the bark and aren't as loud as the Hard Krome pipes I took off. I guess my days of scaring old women and small children are over.

I have the Cobra Power Pro 2 into 1 on my bike and after 12 years no discoloring any where. . I installed a another baffle that goes inside the one on the unit and it gives it a deeper sound. I cannot remember where I bought it. Midrange power increased abundantly compared to the longshots it had on it.

Just my opinion but as clean as that looks you appear to be running lean as hell. You should be able to wipe your finger inside the end of the pipe and come out with a little black or grey residue on your finger. That pipe looks perfectly clean.

That's what's kind of weird. There was quite a bit of black carbon(?) on the tip but I wiped it off, then went for a 2-3 hour ride with temps in the mid 90s; I believe we set a new record high that day. And that is what the pipe looked like when I got home. And there was a slight residue on it, but not like before.

So yesterday I went for about the same ride, except the temp was in the low 60s. And this is what the pipe looks like now.

Would/does temperature differences make make that much difference?

I have Cobra long shots on mine (PO put them on), and like Lug Nut said, the chrome plating is peeling off of the aluminum end caps. I removed the end caps with the hopes of repainting them sometime but haven't got "round tuit" yet... LOL
