  • Oil plugs/gasket part #

Need to tack on a few bucks to a parts order for my 04. Figured I'd get fresh oil drain plugs and gaskets.

Having a hard time identifying the plugs on the diagrams.

Didn't you mention in another thread/forum that the hex head size is also smaller making that front crankcase bolt easier to get a wrench on?

Yamaha pt numbers I found these on the oil tank drain and they are the same as crankcase drain. I can't locate the diagram for the crankcase drain it must be on some odd diagram

The OEM bolts are both 17 mm. I changed my front to a 14 mm to make it easier to get a wrench on it.

This is the first time i've heard about getting a bolt with a smaller hex size, sounds like a great idea. I've always thought that was a big oversite on Yamaha's part to create the condition where you can't get a socket or even a box wrench on the front drain plug. Where did you get yours Shores? I saw the link on Amazon on another post but it is made of SS and i'm not a huge fan of SS hardware. What material is yours made of?

I got mine at O'Reilly or AutoZone, can remember don't use the rubber washer that comes with it, but rather use an oem Crush Washer. It was also a magnetic plug. I think Dorman is the brand.
