Finally getting on my 33/65 re-gear

I bought a 65T rear pulley a long time ago. It was a deal but I just didn’t get around to the rest of the parts. Then almost 2 years ago I got a 33T front pulley from Duke - and put it on the shelf.

Well over this winter I started getting a small leak from the front shaft area. Last time that happened it was a loose nut. I don’t know if that’s the issue now but with my big ride coming up before NW Starfest I decided to finally get this done. So I ordered a new nut, washer, o-ring, and a 128T S&S belt. It’s gonna be a great ride.

I definitely liked the lower RPM when I was rolling along at 80 to 90 miles per hour but oddly I didn't really notice better gas mileage at least not significant.

What is your rear tire size? I'm looking to put a new tire on the bike that I've put the Warrior rim on, and wanting to try a car tire on it.
The Warrior stock tire is a 200/50-17, (25.1), which the tire diameter is smaller than the 150/80-16, (25.4" dia.).
I running the 33/65. pulleys on my 3 bikes now, and I really like the ratio for the lower RPMs.
I do believe that you will like that pulley ratio for highway cruising.

The Warrior stock tire is a 200/50-17, (25.1), which the tire diameter is smaller than the 150/80-16, (25.4" dia.).
I running the 33/65. pulleys on my 3 bikes now, and I really like the ratio for the lower RPMs.

Did you have to just grind the brake caliper to get a 200 tire to fit? I had to do that for my 180 tire on my 18-in custom wheel on my purple bike I had. Anything else you did to make the warrior rim fit? I have a perfect straddle liner polished rear wheel rotor pulley tire but haven't done any measuring yet I would like to put on my 2008 Road Star but haven't done any measuring yet

I bought a set of Strat wheels when I had my RS. The front wasn't an issue, but the rear was going to be too much work. I don't remember the details or issues, but I do own a lath/mill and can do my own parts fabrication, so it must have been a pretty big deal. Thinking about it, it may have been something with the rear drive sprocket alignment was too far out, just don't remember for sure. I sold those set of wheels because of the rear wheel issue, whatever it was.

Edit: Now I'm questioning my memory, I may have bought the Strat wheels for my Vstar 1300, so might not be a problem on RS??

No grinding. Used the Warrior brake rotor and the stock RS brake calipers but had to fabricate a brake caliper bracket and spacer set up. The drive hub had to be machined to center the wheel, and that is a whole nother story.

I figured it wouldn't be a direct bolt-on lol.

It’s a 175/16 Austin’s Taxi tire. 27” diameter. When I switched to this tire my rpm’s did lower a bit. But not much.
Also I rarely scrape the boards now.
