I believe that our government leaders has their heads up their butts and lacks common sense, thinking that E-15 will help with fuel prices! I would think that our senseless leaders should listen to experts in the engineering fields of crap their feeding us.
It's a scientific fact that a engine needs a higher fuel ratio running alcohol, so using E-15 will give a user less fuel mileage. Not only lower fuel mileage, it costs more to produce a barrel of alcohol, than a barrel of gas.



Oh, I guess, what should we expect from the leaders that we elect into office!!!??... Input ignorance / output senseless.

I believe that it's not an accident but being done on purpose. I am old and cynical and l have a mistrust of authority figures. It might be because of my raising, my father worked for the federal government most of his life. His opinion was to never believe anything that you hear and to only halfway believe what you see with your own eyes. The inmates are in charge of the asylum. I spent some time overseas as a contractor and was told basically the same thing in briefings. I know nothing and saw nothing, even it I witnessed something, I saw nothing and someone else would give the official narrative of what occurred. It might be that we are coming closer to the end of the age, the horsemen of the apocalypse may be upon us. Whatever it might be, we are living the Chinese curse of may you live in interesting times.

I don't want to get into politics or a heated debate. I admit I don't listen to a lot of news as I get tired of the same old same old. But I'd not heard the thought of E15 will help lower the prices. We've had E15 for many years now. I think they'd figured out that most modern cars with fuel injection systems can run safely on an E15 blend just like the current E10.

I've wondered just how much it costs to produce a gallon of ethanol. But on the flip side it does check some boxes that humor folks. It comes from a renewable source and puts money back into the agriculture sector. Plus the added jobs from the refining processes.

You are correct that it doesn't have the same amount of power (I forget the measurement - BTUs?) that pure gasoline has. So it does take more to deliver the same results. Thus I think it's more suited to fuel injected vehicles where the computer can compensate for the changes.

Living in the middle of the corn belt we've had ethanol fuel for many decades. I've run it in everything from my 1946 Allis Chalmers tractor, 80's vintage 2 stroke Lawn Boy mower to my daily drivers and fuelie Road Star. I can't say I've ever had an issue that was fuel related outside of one. My 1983 skid steer with a continental flat head engine had an issue with the carb float sticking. It wasn't a brass float but a foam type. I took a file and trimmed the float down a bit and it's been fine the past 20+ years. I attributed it to ethanol blend fuel. But that's speculation on my part.

Another downside is that it doesn't store well. But I'm not sure modern gas with or without ethanol stores as well as it did 20-50 years ago. So while I can appreciate your need to vent. Sometimes there are other variables that aren't always apparent.

The AMA had a feature in last months magazine about 15% ethanol blend fuel. At this time there are no motorcycles for which E15 is approved. The larger problem is the labeling and lack of warning signs at the pump to prevent drivers from fueling unapproved vehicles with E15. We need to pay attention to what we are pumping now.

My Pop has a Chevy truck set up for E85. Noticeably less power when running it.

it will probably require a different formula fuel stabilizer. They are so full of shit though about how it will make gas more affordable. It may appear that you save a little at the pump but they don't want to talk about what you will lose in MPG. They also don't tell what that will do to the required automotive companies fuel economy standards.

The best thing is that in 2024 things will start to get back to normal? The worst thing is that it will take a lot longer than it should to get there due to our present POTUS and his crews agenda! JMO
As for adding more ethanol to fuel everyone know that's not the fix for this problem, their not even trying to fix this problem!

I agree, we have a grain trying to pose as a vegetable in our diet. And it's not the corn of 50 or 100 years ago, it's all GMO. I don't even eat corn and try to avoid corn sweetener in anything. Fructose is bad stuff.

The cost planting, watering, fertilizing, weed killer, harvesting, hauling, refining, and distributing this product is not cost effective. Ask any farmer, yes, they do want to sell their crops, but they know that making fuel from it is not cost effective.
If you have to burn more fuel, "less mpg", that's more tax dollars coming in to the government. It all adds up, and we the consumer pay for all the senseless crap our elected officials come up with.
I do feel that we need to start coming up with better ways for our energy needs, but this isn't one of them. JMO.
One thing for sure, there is to many vehicles, boats, planes, etc., etc., and I am one of the many.

Ethanol in our gasoline seems like High Fructose Corn Syrup in our food. In many ways. 'It's less harmful'

If you're okay with ethanol in your gas be prepared to be okay with water in your gas also. One of the characteristics of ethanol is that it draws water they call it a "ethanol cocktail"
