  • fuel stablizer

    Hello Brothers of the Road,
Up here in the cold north atlantic , my sweet Sylvia Silverado is parked for 5-6 months a year due to poor weather, when i store her i fill the tank and throw in some stablizer. Does it really work or is it just a bluff?

It works great. Put it in the tank and run it so it enters the fuel bowl on the carb and you are good.

This is the stuff I use. Put it in all my cans for lawn machines, as well as my bike tank over the winter. I never run them dry before putting them away for storage anymore and never have a problem when taking them out of storage. Best stuff I've ever used!

theres a recent review on all these, none of them remove all the water from gas tank. in humid states, drain tank, dry in sun open, fill with frsh non ethanol and stabilizer if storing. in FL, we just do the dry out. PUT NEW FUEL AFTER DRY OUT. old fuel into plastic tanked FI vehicles or recycle or other use. gas tanks are too dam COSTY theses days.

I have used STA-BIL brand fuel stabilizer for years and it has always worked as advertised.

I agree, never had an issue either.

They stabilize fuel, but do not remove water

Nothing "Removes" water. All dry gas type products do is mix with moisture and small traces of water to help it burn as it passes thru the engine. It is an alcohol based product so once it mixes with the water it also acts as an antifreeze due to it's lower freezing point and helps keep the vehicle with water/moisture contaminated gas from getting fuel line freeze up in cold climates. If you have any significant amount of water in the tank it needs to be drained manually.
