    The 1600 are different in the heads, intake manifold, valve covers, rocker arm plates, push rods, cams, cylinders, pistons, and carburetor jets. The exhaust ports exit location are in the same place though.
    The engine cases, (short block), are the same and interchangeable.
    I have used 1700 cylinders on the 1600, but you need to use “stepped line up pins”. To make the cooling fins match up with the 1600 heads, the fins need to be contoured by shaving them down a little.

      Even you flycut the piston and get some clearance I doubt the heads will ever flow enough to "use" .535 lift cam?? Would be higher reving without much point wouldn't it? I think I'll try and focus on just cams and pistons and the new tubes for my parts collecting

        Yes Lug Nut, I believe that having .535” valve lift would be to much. You would be better off using larger valves and ported heads. It’s a lot of money for a little extra horses and torque.

          Yeah in not investing all that $ in my cheapie bobber....just after more hi comp/slight cam sound if I get good deals on some parts...sounds pretty good with the Vance & Hines short shots now

            In the gen 1 vmax community there is a company that make heads/intake (custom billet aluminum) that is insanely expensive...but with a 1570 cc big bore kit one of the bikes at an event I was at puts down 200hp NA to the tire (extended swing arm chain drive conversion)...but the vmax crowd is a lot more focused on performance/power than the cruiser crowd. I do like the HD bikes with 140-160 cube motors that make silly power but again....super expensive and I can only imagine how poor the reliability and longevity is on this beasts...
