  • Road Star powered bobber just got delivered

Dirty and dusty from trip and rained on when I went to get gas ..lots of power for 500lb bike (literally half of that is motor). Doing a little carb work and some tucking wires/rerouting but man is it ever sweet. Planning on painting tank and rear fender either red or root beer medium/large flake pearl metallic this winter. The sounds and ride are SO much different than a Road Star with belt drive/cush dampeners and full suspension....it sounds much more mechanical with direct drive chain/sprocket!

Gonna have lots of fun with this bike ....1700cc in a little bobber ...

Sounds good but has baffles and may need to pull them and see....don't care about losing torque on this bike ..!

I have those same pipes. Don't think those baffles are removeable. Fortunately, I'm good with how it sounds as is.

I'd like to reserve it for the middle of July. Daily rate?

Looks like a lot of fun Scott…..Agreed I think the color is must change. I’m not a huge Root beer color fan but I think that’s a color that could work really well on the bike.

Solid black would be good but want something flashy for this one

Maybe even a satin or flat black would look good on that style bike.

Denim/satin/matte black would be cool for this style and parts on it but damn.....every "custom" bike I see is matte black and has been for past 15 years lol. Honestly thought about matte white also

My favorite colors are black and chrome. BUT I really like that deep pearly metallic Cadillac red.

Got pipes all straight and level...lots of little stuff ...replacing thin yellow fuel hose with high pressure thick fuel line, went through carb, attached idle cable, double checked Dyna 3000 settings, added inline fuel filter to fuel line and removed nasty inlet carb filter, adjusted idle and pms, aired up tires, replaced left side cover/chrome emblem (parts stash to the rescue these original ones were nasty), removed and cleaned up cam cover and adjusted decomp spoon, adjusted clutch/cable, tied front brake lever tight overnight and voila good pressure (must have had an air bubble), rerouted ocv to below and under the bike instead of off to the side, tightened kickstand (must have gotten a little loose in transport), and now replacing yellow breather hose from top of cylinder to oil tank with better fuel line (starting to melt from laying on head).

While tins are getting painted Im looking into really good adhesive wiring wrap and will relocate the fuse panel and starter relay to clean up the look as much as possible. Want all wires to be hidden or covered with really good wrap/loom and get miles connectors mostly hidden from view. The stock wiring harness is cumbersome and hug especially on a bar bones bike with no side covers to hide stuff!!
