What's the pulley made of

Just my wildass guess; but I'd say it's not aluminum. A while back there were some aluminum Baron's 31 tooth front pulleys floating around that were wearing too easily. The teeth became sharp and cut the belts. Baron quickly stopped making them out of aluminum and replaced them with steel.

Well all of that is not quite what I was expecting. The chrome process does include the teeth of the pulley so that would change the belt tooth to pulley fit. As far as flaking that would be a poor plating job. But I am assuming that no one here has done a chrome plating on one or at least no one who has seen this thread. So given that what options or mods have others done for pulleys?

Aluminum magnesium alloy same thing as auto rims i would imagine. the exact formula? Who knows, they would need to plate it with copper then nickel then chrome, very expensive these days for triple plate, I don't think the teeth get plated

I don't know what it is made of but I do remember years ago a few members had the rear pulleys chromed and claimed that the belt wasn't quite right afterwards. I don't remember exactly what the issue was but it had to do with the cogs of the belt not fitting into the pulley. It seems like it was maybe a odd noise that it was making from the belt not fitting all the way into the pulley.

I heard that as well plus chrome flaked off but could be the specific vendor.... I got a chrome pulley cover for my first roadstar and loved it... Looked like a big solid billet piece.

Chrome rear rotor also had issues on Road Stars I've seen.

I am getting my rear pulley chromed and they want to know what it is made from? Does anybody know what does Perry is made of? Also if anybody has done this before did you take the police apart before was crowned or leave it in one piece?
