Roadwing

I finally got up the nerve to install my Roadwing alone. How in the world do you force the sleeve back into the large end? I have been pounding with all my might. I have an inch to go. I was hoping to get it in and ride today but now it doesn't look good. What is the trick??

Are you referring to pressing the bronze bushings?

No, the sleeve that goes through them. I finally got it back out. A guy told me to file the burrs out of the bushings but there aren't any.

Do I have to hone or ream them? I thought it was bolt on ready...

There is no sleeve that goes through the 2 new bushings you should have installed. It's been awhile since I did mine but I'm pretty sure I'm right. There is some good basic info, he didn't us washers as spacers and that is the way I did mine but you don't have too

I had the same problem. Used emery cloth enlarge enough for bolt to fit through. I have a 2003. Not sure if later bolts are smaller.

i got it with bushings installed. I guess it is called a collar but it must be installed. I am cleaning and inspecting everything very closely trying to figure out what is stopping it. It is baffling me for sure. I'm about to break out my old wheel cylinder hone if I can find it.

It is just that last little bit and doesn’t need much removed to get it to go through.

Yeah, I just test fitted again. That collar will NOT go through those bushings. It will start on either side by hand but immediately gets so tight you can't force it through.

It is worth the effort. The Roadwing is the best change/add-on you can make to the bike.

My cylinder hones are antique and junk. Damn damn damn. I really don't want to put the stock one back on but I'm burning daylight on possibly the last nice day this season.
