I never tried the horn on the highway until yesterday, i thought they broke so when i got off i tried them and boy they were seriously weak, i don't really use it much but when i do it would nice if it actually worked, I'm going to see if i can find a car horn that my brackets will bolt to. I might have to shim the brackets out some but i bet it can be done, i definitely don't want any trombones on the bike or anything that sticks out visually, even the vstar 650 with it's single roadrunner horn was better than these things. What was yamaha thinking

Isn't that a roadliner ? My boards don't look like that, plus i have a big engine guard that might be in way of mounting a horn in that location, im going pull mine and have a look see. Maybe they're just old tired and corroded, i just want a horn comparable to car horns nothing so loud that it scares a driver to accidentally or purposely veer into me, some owners are saying their horns are as loud as a car, which leads me to believe replacing mine with oem horns may solve the problem, ill know more after i get them off and try a direct connection

Disconnecting and cleaning the connection/connector helps mine. They periodically get low volume so I clean the connection.

I'm curious, did they change horns at any point during production or do they fade over time? I have an '08 and I think they're as loud as any car horn I've been around. That or I need to switch from the stock exhaust to something louder to offset the horn level.

I recently discovered that since I rarely use my WOLO BadBoy horn, that when I pressed the button, it sounded weak. Subsequent activations got stronger-back to normal. I suspect that, since the rotor of the compressor needs to spin up to produce the air to activate the horns, that moist air, maybe some dirt, entered the horn body, and slightly bound the horn, since it is located forward of my left floorboard (where the stock forward horn resided), also, the reeds of the horns are plastic and I think they can become fouled, because I had a malfunctioning horn earlier, removed the horns from the horn body (compressor) and tried activating it. The compressor whirred like it was supposed to, so I tried reinstalling the diaphragms...no go, so I just ambled down to the nearest Harbor Freight Tools, bought another WBB and installed it, since I didn't need to put in new wiring. I kinda doubt that many motorists today can even hear semis' air horns, because of wearing earbuds, modern soundproofing, and blasting sound systems in cars that vibrate vehicles several lanes away!
