  • Oil coolers

What oil cooler wouldn't look too obtrusive connected to a barons manifold at the filter, any ideas on good location would be appreciated engine gets a little noisy when the oil gets really hot, like on the 90 degree days in traffic, 06 silverado

Oil coolers belong in the air, most get attached to the frame downtubes, not sure what tree your barking at.

I think maybe in the 10 years of being on this site I've heard of one person running a cooler. it's confusing when you say attached to the manifold because that's not where it would attach anyway. Out front on the frame down tubes would be the best location for optimal and coolest airflow. I sure wouldn't worry about it.

No need for an oil cooler. I have an '06 as well with 60K miles. I doubt it gets to 115 degrees in Connecticut. These engines are noisy by nature. Maybe you need an oil change, or maybe run a better oil. Amsoil and Mobile 1 seen to be the most popular choices here at the RSC. Just make sure you select the type made for four stroke V-Twins with wet clutches. I run Mobile 1, have for 6 years, and, yes, my bike makes a little more mechanical noise when it's real hot outside. I think just about any internal combustion engine does the same thing. Metals expand at higher heat and tolerances become looser. It's God's fault.

If you are sitting in traffic the oil cooler will not help much. Need to be moving to get the air flow to cool. I got the Buck’s oil cooler that goes on the oil filter way back when. It makes a good rock guard for the filter.

I've got the Buck's cover on my filter too.

That doesn't look like it would do much other than cover my chrome oil filter. It looks like it might keep the oil nice and warm. It must conduct heat and dissipate it well...

Oil coolers are completely unnecessary, a waste of money, added weight, and another point for a potential oil leak.
