I posted a while back on this subject and saw many "reads" but no comments. Is aftermarket audio systems a bad ju ju topic or are there just no R* riders on this forum using those types of systems? Hit me up...

Amplified Speakers (Aftermarket) ???

I run these amplified speakers and like them a lot. However they will have some distortion depending on what music you listen too. I set my phone volume 2 notches below full volume and have the speakers up full volume. Loud pipes running 70-80 mph and they still sound great. I purchased these after meeting Doc-v and hearing his.

I'm doing a Tsukayu "double box" fairing with a Nakamichi 1000w amp and two Polk db691 marine grade 6x9 speakers... Hooked to my phone. I also updated my stator and regulator to 2005+ and have a fresh 310 CCA battery. Waiting on fairing to come back from paint to assemble and see how it soundsm

Sounds awesome! Please share some pics when you get it all together. Where will you be putting that amp, sounds pretty big?
I am still struggling with my factory yamaha quick detach fairing turning me into a human bobble head... I didn't pay close enough attention when I bought it on ebay that it was a non returnable sale and really I don't want to send it back, I want to fix the problem. I did the ride and feel for where the air is coming from and it seems like mine is coming up from the sides of my gas tank which I can't be sure lowers would fix. I am getting off topic...sorry. I am thinking of trying a batwing, but can't justify all the expense in such a short time...

Have the amp under my seat where the tool kit would sit. Since my tool kit is in my saddle bags now it was a good spot. I wired it into the switch so it only comes on when the key is on.

I've got the Boss MC720B 4" 1000 watt speakers mounted to my engine guard. The sound quality is good, I can hear them on the freeway doing 70+ MPH with my full face on and they don't distort at all, even at max volume. I'm happy with them and would buy them again. The 3" speaker Ahodge75 mentioned were clearer at 80 MPH, because of their location on the handlebars, closer too you, but in order to accomplish that, they're designed to cut out all the low and some of the mid range frequencies, which get completely drowned out by wind, exhaust and engine noise above 55 mph anyway. It's the same with any system, unless you go with a big ass amp and subwoofer. For me, the 4" speakers have a better all around quality with more low and mid range frequencies, which in my opinion, sound better around town and cruising speeds. Either way thy're good bang for the buck and easy to install. I put my amp under my left hand side cover.
They also have a great warranty policy. 1 year is standard; I got the three year extended warranty and it's worth it. Some of the screw heads on my last set of speakers started to rust, so they sent me a new set at no cost. I just had to prove I destroyed the old ones.

The amp comes with the speakers and a wiring harness. It's pretty much plug and play. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Boss-MC720B...p/292723985797
I'm afraid I can't tell you who made the backrest. It came with the seat when I bought them both used on eBay. Unfortunately, neither are in production any longer. The pad it self is just a standard pad. I used the one off my sissybar. The mount is just the simple piece of 1/4" steel flat bar, that's been bent in an "L" shape, with a slot cut in the middle on one end, where it slips into the passenger's seat mount, and holes for the seat pad on the other. I personally like it because it's concealed and simple and doesn't get in the way of removing the rider's seat.
