Is there any other way to stop the buffeting produced by the stock windshield besides lowers? No joy in finding used lowers, and don't really have $100 to pony up for the new ones I have found that will work with my quick-disconnect windshield. I hate windshields, but as I got old I realized I hate eating bugs and rocks even more. The buffeting knocks my glasses off, can't really ride comfortably like this. There's gotta be another solution. Thanks in advance.

I can’t speak from personal experience, but something like this might work.

This looks really dorky but if it worked I could live with it.

I have a recurve windshield and it helps a lot. It is not cheap to buy however. Maybe Greens idea would work?

Can you use something like this? (LINK)

Then mount something to it as the deflector such as an old bike windshield cut to deflector size. Might take some fudging around and maybe nothing to win a beauty contest. But if it's functional........

These might be the way to go. I have a set of deflectors of an old Goldwing I could drill to accommodate them. I'm guessing I could find these at a hardware store.

Father Pobasturd, a hardware store would likely have them. Also a Fastenal if you have one in your area. Not sure how big the shock tubes are so you'd need to measure them. But this looks like basically what the Memphis Shades uses.

Brackets like the ones shown above and a couple of pieces of lexan is what worked for my Vulcan

I have three things that help: I have a Royal Star deflector that mounts to the bottom of the lower triple tree that deflects wind down. I have a vent at the bottom of my windshield that eliminates the back pressure that pulls the wind down into your face and I ware solar guard sunglasses from the drugstore which are the large sunglasses that go over your regular eyeglasses. I have even modified the sunglasses with neoprene sides on them so even less are gets in behind them. Also the lowers that I custom made not only deflect the wind to the sides but also down rather than up like the typical ones do.

There's a few good ideas here. Thanks to all who shared.

I know its not the same for everyone but... I set my windshield to the highest setting and the buffeting I was getting went away until I hit about 85-90. but that's not as big a deal anymore.
Where the heck are we NOW!

do you have the stock small or large, angle matters too. and distance from face to shield.

I don't know Brian, can you tell from this pic? Is the angle adjustable? This is all new to me.

I have a small shield on one of my bikes and it's 12 in from the top of the metal chrome to the top of the lexan

I must have the large one. Do you have the quick release mount? Is it adjustable for height and angle?

Like you, I am not a great fan of windshields especially on a bobber. After lots of trial and error I came up with this winning combination. First I fabricated the "wings" and mounts then I mounted the tool bag just in front of the risers. The buffeting rendered the bike impossible to ride above 60. I tried some lexan behind the bag, just the lexan without the bag, add a flip to the lexan, etc. Finally I attached a temporary strut across the handlebars to hold the tool bag and allow me to adjust it up or down while riding. I was able to find the exact spot for my seat height and riding position. As it is mounted now there is absolutely zero butteting at 60, at 90, or any speed. I don't get any pressure on my body even with the tall bars (flying squirrel effect) and I don't feel my pants legs flapping. It is actually a comfortable ride. The trick was to equalize the air flow above and below the interference.

Very cool, a lot of experimentation short of running it through a wind tunnel. Can you give us some photos of the struts in the back side of the bag?

I'm sure the back of the bag is just another cross pc. the bag bolts too.

The struts are milled thinner and narrower to allow the mount on the back of the bag to rest on the shoulder. The cross piece does nothing but I thought it looked more finished than a bolt and washer through the plastic. Fender washers and nuts are used inside the bag. The wings are just powder coated sheet metal bolted to bent and drilled stainless steel brackets.
