it's a Memphis Shades batwing, the quick release comes standard.

I recall you talking about your trunk being a quick release system. How does the batwing remove so quickly?

Bought my first R* [O'l No.54] on the day they got Bin Landen; May 2nd, 2011. I remember because it was on the news when I walked in the door. Here she was the day I brought her home:

    And a couple years later...

My current R* came along in 2016. I like to think of it as a "convertible" because I can quickly change up the style by adding or removing the batwing and trunk; it takes all of 30 seconds, no tools required.

I just got my 02 about a week ago. I am waiting for the clutch spring kit and babying it back and forth to work. Once the clutch is done I'll be doing my best to have the odometer in the mid 40s by this time next year

Dunno why but I've always loved the crash bar around the bags.

I've had this '04 for about +13 years. Joined this site immediately. Great group of like-minded people. Seen many electrical, mechanical and fuel related problems resolved. Incorporated many mods as well. Great site.

Some great stories on here. I don't have a cool story- hahaha. After a career worth of time on sport bikes my body told me it was time to change bikes or quit. Having worked in a Yamaha dealership in college I was familiar with Roadstars; I decided I wanted a white one, and fuel injection. So I was limited to 2008, 2010, and 2012. Then I decided I liked the hard bags- so it had to be a 2012. I could not find one for the life of me locally- but I found a clean unmolested one owner that got traded back in to the shop that originally had sold it- catch was it was in MN. So I had it delivered. I've had it for just over a year. I love it every time I swing a leg over.

I bought my 02 in 02 when I retired for the first time, had .05 miles on it when I picked it up from the dealer, oh and it had very little gas, first stop was gas station. I rode it home, first time I had ever been on a RoadStar, loved the bike the minute I sat on it!!! Still have the bike, 18 years now, had the transmission recall done in 03, no other problems with it. I keep it full of oil, gas, and new tires now and then. I have a few comfort items on it, highway bars and pegs, RIVCO headlight, and a sheepskin to keep from getting monkey butt. Rode it to Sturgis in 02, then to British Columbia, and then home. 71,000 plus miles so far, hope for another 71,000 before I can no longer ride, turned 72 in August!! I will ride until I can no longer swing a leg over the seat!!

I bought my 2002 in April 2016 with 60k on it. Sold it in May of this year with 75k. Bought my 2014 on March 1st this year with 27k and just checked it's at 31115. I loved the '02 but once I went FI I'm never going back.

Bought mine in 11-16-99 with 39 miles, speedo died at 68k, rode on for two yrs before I found a used speedo showing around 1200 miles, now showing 6500. Made a few changes over the years but never had the recalls done. I was able to find a 4th pinon kit and got the oil pump gear so that will finely get done as soon as the cold sets in.
This thing sat for about 7 yrs while I did the Harley thang. I had kinda forgotten about riding without wrenching. Click image for larger version

Bought my 07 in 10 with 7900 miles on it. Now has 64000 miles going back and forth to work only on the warmer days as our winter times here prevent me from riding until spring time plus I rode it from Keeseville, NY to Ofallon, MO with no problems. Just fill it with gas and go with an average speed of 70. Love this bike!

I bought my 2005 midnight Silverado in 2010. I liked it so much in 2015 I guess I bought two more of them a 2004 two tone and a 2004 black. The 2005 has 16-inch apes the other two OEM pullback risers. They all have tall Ed seats OEM, OEM Sissy, windshield and hard bags, stage 1 barons jet kit , and KN universal air filters. My brother Mike finally decided to buy one from me and he barely rides his BMW airhead anymore because he likes the road star power. We have to have 4 bikes total for bike week when the brothers get together so I bought a V-Star 1100 cuz we're Aging, but the V-Star 1100 it's not in the same class. But it's easier to get out of the garage I navigate around parkef vehicles
