I don't remember. The specs shown above are from the '08 manual. I'm sure someone here has the 1700 supplement and can look it up. They didn't publish a full manual when the 1700's came out just a supplement to add to the 1600 manual.

Well, what’s the output of the (‘05-‘07) carbed 1700s?

  • texasscott1
    replied
Nope - '08 went to a higher amp charging system because of the smaller battery and the higher draw of the fuel injection system. The regulator/rectifier is also a lot different.

Yes 05 was the first year upgraded charging system.

I thought all the 1700s after ‘04 went to the 33 amp charging system.

My fuelie has the 465 watt (33 amp) system.

One thing I didn't see mentioned - The fuel injected Roadies had a higher output charging system than all of the previous years.

Looks like the entire air box was removed and filter placed directly on. You can literally hear the air being pulled in with noticeable constant whoosh. I can see where some might like it, but Im not a fan. Of all the parts and add ons I got I did not get the original air box.

Should just be a straight swap. I did nothing to mine for the Barons.

If I decide to remove the KN, what parts would I need to go back to stock? For the average KN upgrade like this is it plug and play or are there dyno changes made as well typically?

Pretty bike! Looks like mine! Haha
That filter is a good bit smaller than the Barons on mine.
I don’t mind the intake sound at all- ones pipes are on it I don’t think I’ll even notice.

Might add a location and if you'll ship as well. I'd post a new message in the Classifieds here.

That's a nice looking ride you have. Some nice add ons to boot! I love the fuel injection, just hit the starter button and go.

Crongrats on a beautiful bike! You won’t regret the choice. I had basically that same trunk bag on mine originally and I finally went to a hard trunk and like it so much better.

Oh and btw from the Oregon Coast. There is a wealth of knowledge here and everyone is always willing to help.

She is home. Got a great deal on the bike with 8000 miles. And a ton of extra accessories: original exhaust and Cobra long shots, OEM plus tall windshield (taller one installed aftermarket), handle bar risers, mustang seat, engine guard, highway pegs, external helmet lock, K&N air filter, lower wind deflectors, brake away cruise control, chrome fender tips front and rear fenders, Garmin Zumo GPS, new battery, hard saddle bags, rear luggage rack, large kuryakyn rear storage bag, windshield mounted bag, battery tender, cramp master throttle assist, kuryakyn handle bar iso grips.

Probably selling the Cobras and the Zumo.

Question: I have never seen the open air K&N filter. Not sure I like the air sucking sound it makes. Some probably love it. Will try it for a while but not sure.

And BTW, is the best deal in the entire world $15 for a the U-Haul 4x9 motorcycle trailer with built in front wheel chock?

You ought to be ok- still a cruiser. Just a little different feel. I'm lovin mine; I came from CBR900RR and Ducati 748. THAT was an adjustment.
