My Shadow sold much faster than I thought it would. That left me with 1 car while me and my older 2 kids work and need transportation. I was sort of forced to get something this weekend. I ended up buying an 07 V Star 1300 Tourer with 10K on it. When I started looking a few weeks ago that was what I wanted to get in the first place. I bought it from the original owner and he took meticulous care of it and saved all of the service records. From a practical standpoint it was the right decision. It gets great gas mileage, is fuel injected, is pretty comfortable, and looks fantastic. It's got plenty of go for a daily driver. I can definitely see a Road Star in my future but this should keep me happy for quite some time.

That’s a smokin deal if it’s been treated well. I was ready to pull a trailer four hours to pick up an 08 for $2400, but decided to have MikeyC go check it out for me. It was severely neglected and full of rust. I passed on the buy.

That sounds like a fantastic deal! You'll like that fuel injection. I know I do on my '08.

I wonder why some consider 07 to be the best model year?

Just found an "07 in Harrisburg Pa. on Craigslist 38K miles, which is nothing on these bikes, and a few nice aftermarket touches you may or may not like according to your taste. Guy seemed forthright about it, says it needs a front tire but outside of that was good to go. 2007 is the last year of the carburated Roadstars, and some say the best year model of all the Roadstars. So, this is a pretty sweet find at $2999.00 if you have that much to spend. My '06 has 59K miles and runs like new. There ave been a few guys on here who have seen 150 - 200 K miles. They don't leak, they don't use oil, and they will steal your heart away. Grab this one if you can. It was just listed 12 hours ago.

Hold out for a Road Star. You really can't do better. I've had mine 6 years now, and I wish I would have found one 16 years ago. These bikes have soul.

The shifting and rolling issue is because the clutch plates are stuck together due to sitting for a long time. I’d pass and get a fuelie Roadstar.

$700 bike at best unless she wants to have everything fixed properly ($1000 at a dealership). Good pass.
I will have a nice running and gone through 2000 Road Star for sale soon (waiting on parts) if your in the NE Indiana region.

Well, I took a look at it today. It is indeed an 1100. It looked to be in decent shape. A few key points. The tank was bone dry but there was no rust at all. Last inspection was in 2014. I put some gas in it and cranked it a few times to get it circulating. Then I had to swap out the battery for the one I brought with me. It cranked and started. Idle sounded good with a little minor backfiring. The pipes that are on it are after market and it's unknown if it was jetted. The last owner is deceased and he isn't the original owner. The OEM pipes were also in the garage. The tread looks brand new but the date code makes them from 2008 so they would have to go. Now the biggest problem at least for me. I could run through the gears when it was off but when I would shift with the engine running it would jump and stall. I tried rolling it with the engine off. Rolled fine in neutral (obviously) but it wouldn't roll in gear with full clutch. I went through the full range of adjustment on the lever side but no change. That's all I had the time and inclination to try. If anyone is interested in a project I can share her cycletrader listing. (Pittsburgh area). I explained that she does not have a Road Star but rather a v star 1100 classic and also what I was able to find out. That's a hard pass for me. Lol. I'm pretty sure she'll be open to offers.

Now that a roadstar is on your radar...get one! I agree with the others that the pic is an 1100. Classic case of a picture worth 1000 words.

Talk to someone who owns a Honda 1300 and ask about front tire wear. I know of 2 that go through a front tire every year. I ride a lot of miles with a vtx 1300 and gas stops are always dictated by the vtx. Not bashing the bike though. 70,000 miles and running strong.

The only advice I can give you is to talk to Shores. I'm sure if you butter him a bit, you can get his bike for under 3K.

That 1100 would be an OK deal at $1500.

That is for sure not a Road Star. Do yourself a big favor and find a Road Star 1600 or 1700. You won't regret it. These bikes are rock solid.
