  • Stuck seat

I hate to ask another question but here goes: I just found the thread about what newbies should look for when they buy a used Roadstar. I read that the seat latch might be loose causing difficulties removing the seat. I thought hey, I always have trouble removing mine so I'm taking a look. I can't get it off.......I've tried the knee thing, I tried bouncing it up and down, I tried walking away to cool off but I still can't get it. I have the side covers off because I thought I could see the latch or the cable but I can't. What should I try next? I already have a car by the way...

Are you pushing down on the key while turning it? If so stop that.lol Just turn to the left while putting pressure on the front of the seat. After you get it off lube everything and make sure the latch is moving properly you can wrap a small pc of wire around the cable to use as a manual latch pull.

So lube and work the cable back and forth until it frees up or breaks lol.

it couldn't be lubed anymore or worked back and forth anymore. I have an assist wire wrapped around the old cable and a new latch ordered. I can get the seat off now but it's still a hard pull on that assist. EDIT and it's about 190 degrees in here....

Think of it as like a type of yoga, your losing weight and strengthing your inner self.

I got the new latch today. It took a little while to get here. It works so fine my heart fluttered a little. I have been fighting with it since I bought it 15 yrs ago. I never really knew what was wrong. Though it works as it should now with the key I put a cheat wire on it anyway for insurance. I’m going to dissect that old latch again to see if I can figure out what is catching inside. It works but only with quite a bit of force to get over the catch.
