Never heard of a problem with neutral switch other than the OEM billet cover causing a connection or contact problem. This was on the old site from what I remember.

I just bought another 2000 Roadie... 46k miles and oil leak under spacer under valve over.
Owner tried to adjust valves ended up buying two used heads lol
Reused gaskets and gotbpaperbgaskets somewhere hence the leak
Longshots no baffles with stock jets But a Barron's adjustable needle (clip on 3rd) and a Hypercharger with stock air bleed...
Wrong fluid in brakes (crunchy lever wouldn't stop)
Relocated fuel pump under cover with big inline filter and kinked fuel hose
Screw in tank from gas tank cap
    Plugs black
Put Grey silicone over severely cracked manifold
Starter full ig brush material and Decomp solenoid spoon bent too far out (barely start being jumped from vehicle)
    Cables needle lubed bad
Couple valve cover bolts in wrong holes
Put ugly home cut out tread Over the passenger floorboard inserts

But cosmetically very nice no dents/scrapes lots of aftermarket extras I sold off (Mustang two up seat, passenger backrest with luggage rack and fender stays, OEM passing light bar, hypercharger, passenger boards, crash bar, brand new Dunlop 404 tire in packaging) and selling these More than covered the $800 in paid for bike.

Scavanged chrome starter cover and chrome 4 in pullback risers for my purple bike also... Got stock seat set and passenger pegs as part of selling my items... Bought front turn signal bar for $20...so I now have a free Roadstar that will be pretty much perfect (new manifold proper jetting put baffles in exhaust went pumpess fresh plugs/transfer case fluid/oil and filter lubed and greased everything etc).

Moral of the story... Be happy some of these bikes are neglected and can be bought for almost free... To "us" knowledgeable members on here we can make money and get free bikes

Dirty oil ages seals and O rings prematurely as well as heat from an improperly tuned motor.

I do try and stay up on all the maintenance on my bike. My bike is the only Therapy I can afford!! What maintenance would be needed for the neutral switch? The only issues I am hearing about with the neutral switch is leaking oil. The odd thing to me is that out of all the issues that riders have posting about, this has just started coming up? I guess the age of these bikes could certainly be part of the issue?

Lol, as these bikes age and the younger low (NO) maintenance crowd buys them up we are seeing many more issues arise to the point were if the seller is not the original owner I walk away from most bikes.

    Maybe because they're plastic?
My 2001 hasn't been leaking, but after the bike sits for a week, or so, the neutral light stays on while in gear. After riding for about 5 or 10 minutes the light go back to normal and works fine.

    Neutral Switch?

I've been with the clinic for a few years now and on FB RSC on and off. Why am I all of a sudden hearing so much about the Neutral Switch either going bad or leaking? Never saw any post about this till about 3 months ago? Any thoughts?
