  • LED Lights?

Hey, y'all...I have a 2005 RS Silverado and considering putting LED bulbs in my headlight, auxiliary light, and tail light.
Any suggestions on a decent LED bulbs, how much it should cost, and where I should get it from? Not looking for the most expensive set of bulbs, but reasonable.
    Thanks!!

There are a bunch of LED comparisons on youtube.

...an '05, don't you have the diamond shaped LED stop/tail light already?

Am I correct to say that LED bulbs in the stock housing don’t work/focus well? Better to get an entire unit?

I've seen folks report some success and others that had less than stellar results with a simple bulb replacement. LED bulbs (not complete assembly) are kind of the wild west out there. Also look to see if they are DOT approved.

I believe Shores is correct about bulbs in the stock unit not working real well. Buddy of mine used bulbs, I replaced my unit and mine seems much better sitting side by side. I used these and have been very happy with them.

I also bought these and ended up using my original cans but these trim rings

Can you show a picture of how they look on your bike?

This is the set up I have on mine. I could not be happier. I have yet to find aux lights that are even as close to as bright. I have had them for 3 seasons now and don't have a single complaint. All purchased on amazon for considerably cheaper than most recomendations I received. I highly recommend to anyone looking for brighter leds

Thanks Ahodge. Nice bike. Is the running light switch on the left can still used?

I went with the Sunpies from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . They went in the stock cans very easily. I did have a question for those that have replaced theirs, did you have trouble replacing the clip (upper left in the 2nd photo) when reassembling the headlight? Mine seemed very hard to get back in to keep the light assembly still.

I used complete assemblies from amazon, it was the turbo Sii came with main headlight and passing lights. I cannot belive how bright they are and the have the halo's. The switch in the left passing light can has to be removed for the new light.

2time the switch was removed and they were wired to come with the key. I used a rubber plug the fill the hole, at the time I couldn’t find a stainless plug the right size.

Thanks Ahodge. I’m down to one running light as of a couple days ago. Bulbs and wiring are good so the switch is the smoking gun. (I’m no electrotech guru but I don't what else it could be) Could kill 2 birds and buy a new kit.

            Long shot question...

What are the chances installing a led headlight will make the headlight chirping stop? The only long term luck I’ve had over the years is ear plugs.

I cut about half inch off of rubber line and slipped them on all headlight bucket mounting bolts. Have not heard any chirping since.
